A RANT: I'm being bullied because I'm rich
"Okay, I'm not rich. I'm just upper middle class(?). I'm at the bracket where I get to buy clothing and accessories that are worth 5-digits. (Kind of typical for us Taft kids, if you ask me)
I've been out of Taft for a while now, and decided that I wanted to pursue what I feel like doing. Even though I have a degree in management, I've decided to work in the ""service"" industry. For us, it's a no-brainer to be around brands like Röllies, LuiVeeton, etc. You walk around the campus and you see them all around. Whole Taft even..
In my current workplace, there are a lot of us that have money, but we're still outnumbered by outsiders that're not in that ""may pera""bracket.
My training's currently ongoing and never in my life that I would think that ""wealth-shaming"" would actually exist. Don't get me wrong, I don't judge people by their background, but I do judge them by what they bring to the table.
My job requires us to pass a series of exams. Just like all others, we're required to go through training. I'm currently at that stage. Imagine this in a classroom setting. Just like any other first days, we're all here to introduce ourselves. ""Hi, I'm _____. I am a graduate of DLSU..."" Right after when I said: ""DLSU"", someone immediately had a side comment of ""yaman"". I was stopped in shock, and struggled to keep my train of thought as I look for that imbecile in the crowd. After we introduced ourselves, our trainer spoke up and told us that he's also a graduate from DLSU. He's a fellow full-blooded Lasallian, in fact. So I'm like: ""YES! F you, you insecure C!"" (Just kidding.. Referring to that imbecile). But that's just in my head, of course. -Having people commenting ""yaman"" because you're from rada rada school, is annoying. It's not flattering. It's aggravating.
A few weeks had gone by and the class would actually corner us (figuratively). There were instances that they would stab us at the back AND the front;
1. They make fun of how we talk. In our defense, we're not at all Conyo. We speak straight English. (It's just not that easy to get rid of the ""Conyo"" accent, especially after you grew up to it).
2. The whole class goes out and they have not once invited any of us from Taft.
3. There were just so much stories alike, and it all boils down to one thing. They're doing these things to purposely isolate us Lasallians.. We had a short story telling, where most of them had vented out: them having problems about money. Then right about when it was our turn, one from the group of imbeciles said: ""Hindi kayo makakarelate dito, mga mayaman kasi kayo.""
NEVER HAVE I EVER thought that I would get Wealth-shamed. We've all heard about Fat-shaming and slut-shaming. But WEALTH-SHAMING? IS THIS REALLY A THING NOW? Is it our fault that we're born to be more privileged than you are? Just because we use brands of luxury, doesn't automatically mean that we're slapping money to your faces! We're only halfway through this and when that day comes, you'll all be out of our lives.
I've never felt so ashamed of having money till I was exposed to a more ""public"" crowd. As of now, we're stepping into our offices to the extent of not wearing/using anything branded so that *hopefully* these people will just leave us alone. We even have to rethink what we're going to say, so that we wouldn't get to offend or inferiorate anybody. It's THAT bad.
We're not even Maarte, AT ALL. Is it because of the way we talk? We even speak in Tagalog, for heavens sake! We talk about brands. We talk about the countries that we've been to. The countries that we want to go to. Is it the topics? Why is it that if these came out from the mouth of a none Lasallian, it's okay?
But if it came from any of us, they automatically assume that we're flaunting.
I can't even wear anything off the shade of green. (guess why)
Why is it that when you say that you're from La Salle, you're automatically dubbed as spoiled at mayaman? Maarte, even! Don't these people think that we're all just average Filipinos trying to get through life, without having to use the safety net of our parents? Yes, we do have privilege, but it's not only limited to La Salle. There's UP, ADMU, UST, UA&P? Enderun? How about Harvard? Cambridge? University of Zimbabwe? Privileged citizens are everywhere. Not just La Salle.
Yes, some of us can be* maarte, but we're good people. None of us has committed fault to any you. Bakit kami? Kami nalang parati? Because of this phase that I'm going through, I think (just like the others) I'm starting to turn into an"

"How can you support a president that actively circumvents rules just to increase her CV? She has introduced herself as a “world champion” many times omitting the fact that it was for English as a Second Language category (Harvard won the debate tournament btw). A category she should not have been eligible for based on the rules below:
1. Have spoken English for more than 5 years as a primary language in their home or social circle
2. Have spent more than 5 years when of school age of above in a country where English is the primary medium of exchange (PHILIPPINES!!)
3. Have spent more than 5 years enrolled din an educational program where english is the effective medium of instruction (DLSU!) "

Is this true?

Sent to  my inbox. Kinopya daw mula sa tambak ng photocopy sa office ng philo.

We the tenured faculty of the Philosophy Department would like to express our strong objection to the hiring on a permanent basis of our colleague, Dr. Jeremiah Joven Joaquin. As a body tasked to  discuss the matter of whether a faculty should join us for the long haul we have met twice to consider the case of Dr. Joaquin.
First on  the matter of hiring, the departmental decision, reached by consensus, should carry the most weight. Dr. Joaquin, who has been with the department since 2006, we have had ample opportunity to assess his contributions and compatibility with our unit. HIs contributions are mixed, and the negative influence of his presence far outweighs his competencies. We unanimously believe that his hiring on a permanent basis would result in long term harm to our department.
Second the decisive factor in our decision not to recommend Dr. Joaquin concerns a matter not extraneous to his professional work. His actions towards a former student crossed the boundaries of propriety that  undermined, simultaneously, not only his working relations with students known to him at the time, but also with other members of the academic community who were privy to his actiions. In light of a previous case in 2009. concerning his extramarital affair with a colleague - for whihc he had already been given dispensation - we cannot help but conclude that he is a recidivist.

Buhayin ang Corruption Issue
"I just read the articles of TLS and APP about this issue. Nakakadisappoint ang sagot ng USG. There's BS and crap in every statement. Seriously, wala man lang assurance sa students na they will do something about this. I'm even more disappointed with the current USG prez. I voted for him. Classmates kami on some classes before and I found him better than the other guy. Or so I thought.
Wala ba talagang ibang magagawa maliban sa impeachment of these officers? Can these corrupt officials get more harmful punishments for their actions? Kahit i-deny lang sila ng GMRC or whatever. Sus. Nagpapaganda lang ng resume ung mga yan. "
